A wedding has a hundred moving parts, but they fall into a predictable rhythm. Use this month-by-month checklist to stay ahead — and to know exactly when invitations and RSVPs fit in.

12+ months before

  • Set the date (or the muhurat window) and a rough budget.
  • Book the venue and the big vendors — caterer, photographer, decor.
  • Start a draft guest list. It will change, but you need a ballpark for the venue.

A simple budget tracker helps here more than a spreadsheet, because costs creep.

6 months before

  • Finalise the guest list and collect contact details (phone and email).
  • Lock the invitation design and wording. If you're going digital, this is when to pick a template so everything else — save-the-dates, website, RSVPs — flows from it.
  • Send save-the-dates, especially for guests who need to travel.

3 months before

  • Send the main invitation. Three months is the sweet spot for Indian weddings: far enough for travel planning, close enough that the date is real.
  • Open RSVPs. With a digital invitation this is automatic — guests tap to confirm, add meal preferences and guest counts, and you watch it all on a live dashboard.
  • Arrange accommodation blocks for out-of-town guests.

1 month before

  • Send a gentle RSVP reminder to anyone who hasn't responded. On WhatsApp this takes minutes with per-guest reminder links.
  • Share logistics: directions, dress code, the schedule of events.
  • Finalise seating and headcounts with your caterer.

The final week

  • Send a "see you soon" nudge with the venue map and timing.
  • Confirm vendor arrivals and timings.
  • Breathe. The link you shared keeps working — any last change reaches every guest instantly.

After the wedding

  • Share a photo gallery and wishes wall so guests can relive the day and leave messages. A digital invitation can host this on the same link you already shared.
  • Send thank-yous.

Where a digital invitation fits

Notice how much of this timeline is about communication — sending, reminding, updating, collecting. That's exactly what a digital invitation automates. Set it up once at the 6-month mark and it carries you through RSVPs, reminders, and the post-event memories.
